Lists of "the best AI tools" are everywhere, and many are driven by hype or commissions. This page explains exactly how our guides are made, where every fact comes from, and what we will never do.

Research-based, start to finish

Every Techpings guide is built from research, not marketing: the tool's official pricing and help pages, independent reviews and price trackers, and what real users report on public review sites. Each guide shows the date it was last checked and lists its sources at the end, so you can verify anything yourself.

Step 1: Start from a real job, not a tool

We begin with a task people actually need to do — making a voiceover, cutting a long video into Shorts, designing a thumbnail, automating a repetitive chore — and then look at the tools that claim to do that job. That keeps the focus on what helps you, not on what's new.

Step 2: Go to the source

  • Official pricing and plan pages, checked on a specific date that we show in the guide.
  • Official help centres, release notes and policies — including what happens to your data.
  • Independent reviews and price trackers, clearly named and linked, and cross-checked against each other.
  • Real user feedback from public review sites and communities, summarised in a "What real users say" section.

When sources disagree, we say so and tell you which figure we used and why. Every guide ends with its list of sources.

Step 3: The five checks

1 · Is it useful?Does it clearly save time or produce a better result for a real task?
2 · Is it fair on price? What does the free plan really allow, and what's the cheapest plan that does the job?
3 · Is it safe? What happens to your data — is it used for training, and can you delete it?
4 · Is it reliable? What do real users report over time — consistent results, or frequent problems?
5 · Is it honest?Do its claims match what users and independent reviewers actually experience?

Where a tool has a real drawback — a watermark on the free plan, credits that run out fast, slow support — it's stated plainly in the guide, even when we earn a commission from it.

Step 4: Compare fairly

In our comparison guides, tools are compared on the same points: price, free plan limits, key features, what users report and who each one suits. Rankings come from that comparison, never from payouts. When two tools suit different people, we say who should pick which rather than forcing a single winner.

How we handle affiliate links

Techpings is free to read and watch. Some links are affiliate links: if you sign up or buy through them, the company may pay us a commission, at no extra cost to you. Here's what that does and doesn't change:

  • We decide what to recommend before we look for an affiliate program.
  • If the best tool has no affiliate program, it still gets recommended.
  • We always mention free alternatives, even when they earn us nothing.
  • Every article with affiliate links says so at the top.

The full details are in our Affiliate Disclosure.

How we use AI ourselves

We use AI tools to help research topics, draft text, create graphics and produce videos — that's part of what we cover. Every guide is checked against its sources before it's published, and we correct mistakes as soon as we know about them.

Keeping it current

AI tools change features, limits and prices constantly. Each guide shows the date it was last checked, and we revisit guides regularly. Spotted something out of date? Please tell us — corrections are a top priority.
