Conductor, a start-up whose app lets developers run a whole team of AI coding agents at the same time, announced on 4 November 2026 that it is joining Meta. The news came in the release notes for version 0.93.0 of the app. No price or other deal terms were published, and the company says it will now wind its product down over the coming weeks and months.
The deal
Conductor's own announcement is short: the team thanked its users and said it is joining Meta. It did not say what the team will work on at Meta or how its technology might be used there.
Because the company is closing its service, the practical news for existing users is the shutdown timetable set out below.
What the company does
Conductor describes its product as a way to run a team of coding agents in the cloud. Instead of chatting with one AI assistant at a time, a developer can start several agents in parallel, each working on its own copy of a code project, and then review the pull requests they produce.
- Bring your own agents: Conductor runs the first-party Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and OpenCode agents, using the developer's own subscriptions and keys. In September it added sign-in with a ChatGPT account so Codex could run on a ChatGPT plan.
- Cloud sandboxes: Conductor Cloud starts each agent in an isolated microVM with the code and its dependencies already installed, so agents can work for hours.
- Teamwork: a recent update made workspaces shareable, so colleagues can watch the same agents and prompt them together.
- Remote control: version 0.92.0 in October added an iPhone app that can start workspaces and send messages to agents running on a Mac.
The company says more than 100,000 builders have used Conductor.
Timing and conditions
Conductor has stopped short of an immediate shutdown and set out these dates:
| Service | What happens |
|---|---|
| Conductor Cloud | Becomes read-only on 13 November 2026 |
| Conductor Cloud | Shuts down on 20 November 2026 |
| Local Conductor (Mac app) | Keeps receiving new models and critical bug fixes until early 2027 |
Users can move a cloud workspace and its chats to their Mac with a "Transfer to local" option, or download all their data from the account settings. The final 0.93.0 release also added GPT-6.1 Terra to the Codex model list and custom completion sounds.
Background
Conductor raised a $22 million Series A from Spark and Matrix in March 2026, and in April it announced that the team behind cmd was joining it. The move to Meta is one of several AI deals this week: CrowdStrike agreed to buy Fiddler AI, and Salesforce agreed to buy Cresta. All of them are listed in the AI Money tracker.
