Google has added file creation and editing to the Gemini app. Users can now generate, preview and edit documents, PDFs, presentations, spreadsheets, code and more without leaving the chat.
What you can do
- Edit by hand: expand a file to full screen and type changes directly.
- Ask about a passage: highlight text and ask Gemini a question about it.
- Have Gemini revise it: ask Gemini to refine the file, or highlight a section and ask it to change the text or visuals there.

Google's example
In its demonstration, Google shows a student uploading handwritten lecture notes, asking Gemini to create a PDF study guide from them, then editing the guide by hand and highlighting sections for Gemini to rewrite.
Availability
Google says the features are available to all users in all languages where the Gemini app is offered. The announcement does not mention a paid plan requirement.
On the same day, Google also announced free textbooks in Gemini Notebook. Read that story.
